Setting the Ground Rules: Our Team Playbook

As we get closer to opening night, we want to make sure the JoCo Ham Slams are setting ourselves up for a fun, smooth, and successful season! Being an independent team means we run on mutual respect, community, and a shared love for the game.

Here are the core rules and regulations for our squad this Fall:

• League & Gameplay Rules: We are officially playing under Smithfield Parks and Rec following USSSA rules. This means standard USSSA formatting applies to our counts, pitching arcs, and base running rules. Umpires enforce these strictly, so we play clean, play hard, and respect the calls on the field.

• Bat Regulations: All bats used in game play must carry the official, current USSSA thumbprint stamp. Non-stamped, altered, or banned bats will result in an automatic out (and potentially worse from the league), so please double-check your gear before stepping into the batter's box!

• Tournament Qualification: To be eligible to play in the postseason tournament, the league requires players to have participated in a minimum number of regular-season games. Roster jumping at the end of the year isn't allowed, so regular attendance is crucial to lock in your tournament spot!

• Uniform Requirements: To look like a cohesive unit, all players must at minimum purchase a team jersey and either a team hat or visor from our upcoming RAC store. Custom wristbands and extra gear are totally optional!

• Attendance & Communication: Please use our team tools to RSVP to games and practices as early as possible so we can set our lineups without scrambling.

• Dugout Vibe Check: We prioritize community and camaraderie above everything else. Have fun, cheer on your teammates, and let's keep the dugout positive!

• Fan & Bleacher Etiquette (For the Stands): Our fans are the loudest and best in the league, and we want to keep it that way! We love having our family and friends out under the lights, but please remember to keep all cheering positive and respectful toward the umpires, opposing players, and league staff. No smoking or alcohol is permitted at the complex per park rules, so let's keep the environment family-friendly and fun for everyone!
